PEZ collectors from nine nations were happy: The 3rd German Collectors' Meeting in Hamm, from August 22nd to 24th at the Mercure Hotel, was a success and a truly enjoyable weekend for all participants.

It kicked off on Friday evening with "room hopping," where the colorful dispensers decorated the respective hotel rooms. The goal was to get an initial overview and get to know each other, exchange, negotiate, and buy.

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the collectors' market took place in the hotel's winter garden. Other interested parties from the surrounding area and even PEZ lovers from Belgium and the Netherlands traveled especially for the event. After the communal dinner, bingo took place, with numerous small and large prizes. Two Giants dispensers, specially sprayed by a Hamm artist, were auctioned off for the Hamm animal shelter.

All in all, a successful collectors' meeting - see you in four years? So far: Yes!

Room hopping is always popular at PEZ collector conventions. Here, participants are among themselves for a while before their treasures are shown to the public the next day.

During room hopping, the doors of the hotel rooms are opened - in this case, on the fourth floor of the Mercure Hotel in Hamm - where the collectors present their donors. You can swap, buy, trade, chat, and, of course, just take a look at what the others have. Room hopping usually lasts several hours and everyone looks forward to the next day, when the convention takes place.

There have been and are collector meetings all over the world - in the USA it is called a "convention", in other countries it is called a "gathering". At these meetings, collectors come together to trade, sell or buy PEZ dispensers and other collectibles from this iconic brand.

The oldest and largest collectors' meeting in the world is "PEZAMANIA", which has been held annually in Cleveland since 1991. There are also many other conventions in the USA.

In Europe, there have been gatherings in Austria, Belgium, England, Finland, France, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Slovenia and Spain. In addition, events were held in Australia, Indonesia, Japan and Thailand, as well as Lebanon and Turkey.

In Germany, the 1st PEZ collector meeting took place in 2017 from August 11th to 13th and the 2nd from August 27th to 29th, 2021, in Hamm (Westphalia).

Unfortunately, especially in Europe, the number of collectors' meetings has declined significantly.
