The 4-star Mercure Hotel Hamm with its 142 newly renovated rooms is located right next to the central train station (ICE station) and it is just five minute walk from the station. From the airports Dusseldorf, Cologne and Dortmund you have very good train connections, also good ones from Frankfurt!
By car you can reach the Mercure via the A 1 / A 2, you can park in the underground car park.

There have been and are collector meetings all over the world - in the USA it is called a "convention", in other countries it is called a "gathering". At these meetings, collectors come together to trade, sell or buy PEZ dispensers and other collectibles from this iconic brand.
The oldest and largest collectors' meeting in the world is "PEZAMANIA", which has been held annually in Cleveland since 1991. There are also many other conventions in the USA.
In Europe, there have been gatherings in Austria, Belgium, England, Finland, France, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Slovenia and Spain. In addition, events were held in Australia, Indonesia, Japan and Thailand, as well as Lebanon and Turkey.
In Germany, the 1st PEZ collector meeting took place in 2017 from August 11th to 13th and the 2nd from August 27th to 29th, 2021, in Hamm (Westphalia).
The 3rd collectors' meeting will take place again in Hamm from August 22nd to 24th, 2025.
At the collectors' meetings there are very different collectibles, as a special highlight of course convention or gathering dispensers. There is a difference between official dispensers, which are produced by the brand PEZ itself, and inofficial ones, which are self-made.
Those convention or gathering dispensers are only released in limited numbers and because of that are much asked for. Since 2016 there has been a change in the official dispensers. While the official PEZ dispensers could be individually created before, they are now based on dispensers specified by PEZ and existing, which have a special colour and a specially designed stem.
For the first PEZ gathering in Germany the lettering "1. PSD" and the venue "Hamm" were included in the design, as well as an excerpt from the city of Hamm. PEZ produced 200 pieces of those dispensers.
The dispenser for the first Belgian Gathering in Brugge also featured a transparent purple head of a LOL emoji (usually yellow) and a red stem printed with "PEZ Gathering Brugge".
Hamm is a large city and a “green oasis“ with large open areas and areas close to nature within the urban space. Hamm is “the“ city for 180.000 people. And with more than 799 years of diversified history Hamm is worth a visit to Northrhine Westphalia.
The history of the town has been influenced by its easily accesible location. Being founded in 1226 at the junction of the rivers Ahse and Lippe water has always been of major importance for the city.
Until today the river Lippe and the Datteln-Hamm canal are important routes of transport. It is not a coincidence that Hamm has the second biggest canal port in Germany.
The whole city and surrounding countryside can be explored by bike. Amongst many other interesting landmarks you ride past the Maximilian park in which the world's biggest accessible building like an animal, the glas elephant, can be found. The washing room on the premises of the former coal mine Maximilian has been redesigned into an elephant and so has become the town's landmark.
Further landmarks are the Sri Kamadchi Ampal temple which is the biggest South Indian temple in continental europe, the castles Oberwerries and Heessen or the Paulus church at the market with its 80 metres high tower. Castle Heessen has even been a setting for different film and television productions. And if you want to meet Egyptians you can go to the Gustav-Lübcke museum, because there the most important collection of Egyptian art of the county Northrhine Westphalia is resident.
